Science aint bad after all ;)

In school i always liked social and english more than science. Science was always the serious academic stuff while the latter were where i belonged. But thanks to the KV culture of secluding Arts people i too, like many others chose what my friends chose--Science. Once again i found myself perfectly happy and interested during Sesha ma'm's english classes!!
All in all, i always thought that even though i scored ok in science, it wasn't my cuppa tea!!!

And then...RIE happened... where there were some of the bbbest and some of the worrrssst teachers! Most of the best ones belonged to life science part. In every class the world of science was revealed bit by bit. Practicals were even more amazing!

I'd like to share some of my OH MY GOD moments in these four years of BScEd.

  •  When i actually saw how algae looked under the microscope and wondered how such dirty murky plants could look so beautiful!!

  •
    • When i saw paramecia move on changing the light conditions and when i saw them conjugate..

    paramecia conjugating

    • When i learnt about the complex highly intelligent mechanisms of protein synthesis, About genetic code-The language of the creator, About the ever so ammmazzing DNA!

    • When i saw hundreds of RBCs and WBCs in ONE  drop of blood!!

    • Ecology practicals were so amazing that i secretly want to do a course on environmental science some day!

    • I took a DROP of ocean water to see  a   plankton but what i saw under the microscope were MANY planktons--alive and moving in their own special curious ways!!...If one drop of ocean can hold so many lives and so much of variety imagine how many and how much of variety there would be in all the oceans of the world!!!

    • While learning about  Animal behaviour (ethology) i learnt that bees danced to communicate and that the good old Tom and Jerry cartoons of,  the new born baby duck calling the first- seen- Tom "Mumma" were actually true!!

Well, these are some of the amazing moments that i can think of right now but i'm sure i've missed out some and i'm even more sure that science is yet to amaze me more. Learning science at college made me read more books on science (about which i'll be writing later), and at the end of the day i realise that i'm actually thankful that i ended up taking science, where i can see for myself and do what scientists did ages ago!

Science is borring and serious and academic and dry..

                                           Naaahhh!! Its just the opposite!!!
