This semester was a roller coaster ride ! It started with an unforgettable, disheartening hospital experience ...took us through bumpy tracks in our friendships (thanks to the wonderful seniors for giving us sky rocketing stress levels and making us the scapegoats of their politics) and through highly adrenaline moments (like a guy entering our hostel, guys being caught for ragging, etc etc. the list goes on ..) and finally ended back in hospital, (thanks to the snake that chose to cross my path & zoomed away after suffering from a broken back )[What with a 50 kg weight on its slender back for over a second!! ;)]
So all in all...i spent quite a lota time in hospiltals this sem. What shocked me n my friends was the treatment that was given. We enter the hospital with our highly ill best bud and the "respected" doctors ask for some stupid forms to be filled ... and say that only then they would admit our bud-our lifeline!! We knew we were gonna have a hard time that very moment. Once inside the hospital, the "genius" of a doctor announces his Sttttuppid inferences about her illness without even asking for the symptoms !!! UNBELIEVABLE right ??? imagine what we would have felt, seeing our best friend going through perhaps the most painful of experiences, & that too without even her parents to look after her...!!! Blimey!!..Those days, we saw both God & Hell @ the same time!! Finally to top it all we get to know after about a month that she was diagnosed wrong !!! Poor thing...had to bear some 20 sedations, some 4 drips, and swallow tons of bullet sized tablets and don't even talk about OUR treatments :D !
Next, it was my turn- An eventful snakebite !! Well, i was lucky to find 2 malayali nurses who were nice to me ( unlike the previous hospital-wale evil nurses who made it a point to pretend they dint know any other language but kannada) BUT my experience wasn't all that rosy either! Inspite of the fact that i was quite normal, The doctors said, they would need to put me inside some kinda critical ward ( and for that, i'd have to deposit 10,000 bucks right away!!!! ) Knowing the mysore doctors just too well, i managed to wriggle outta that one with the help of a coupla of kind, mal student nurses who were yet untouched by the businessmindedness.I ended up in a special ward. My stay there for the next 24 hrs was fine, except that i had to bear a coupla useless blood tests and a stupid sodium hydrocortisol injection which made my poor delicate veins to swell into little balls!! :(( Yikes !! That moment, all i could remember was that scene in the movie, "Mummy",in which those creepy insects get inside the greedy man's skin and move around like li'l balls..AND FINALLY, they eat him up!!EEeeewww...!!
Anyway, its times like these that make us wish for someone like MUNNA BHAI M.B.B.S !! After all, its hospitals that are life savers of any place and corrupt hospitals would mean a complete loss of assurance and security. My experiences force me to ask if our Life savers are becoming our life takers??? Its already shaking my trusts on doctors, even though am sure that even now, there are HUMAN doctors in this world.Just these two experiences of mine have so strongly affected me that i can almost hear alarm bells ringing in my ears, and i guess they are saing "Do Something" !! :)
Though small and far fetched, I have my secret plans awwready, which i'll try my bbbest to implement ;) !! What bout you ?? :)
